Our Home & Rooms

A house on a residential street in Katy — not a wing, not a campus, not a lobby.

What you walk into

There is no reception desk. You come through a front door into a front room, and that is usually where most people are — because that is where the television, the good chairs and the conversation live. The kitchen is right there, and you can smell whatever is cooking.

The house is entirely single-storey and step-free. Hallways are wide enough for a walker to pass someone. Bathrooms have roll-in showers, grab rails and seats. None of that is decorative — it is why she can keep her independence longer here than at home.

Rooms

Room type What it includes Best for
Private room Own bedroom with a window, closet and space for her own furniture. Shared bathroom with one other resident. Anyone who values quiet, or whose sleep is easily disturbed.
Private room, private bath Own bedroom plus a private accessible bathroom with roll-in shower. Higher personal care needs, or a strong preference for privacy.
Companion room Shared bedroom for two, with a divider and separate closets. The most affordable option. Someone who does worse alone, or a couple moving in together.

Every room is furnished if you need it to be — but most families bring her own bed, her chair, and the pictures off her hallway wall. It makes the first fortnight enormously easier. Bring the things she reaches for without thinking.

The rest of the house

  • The kitchen. All meals are cooked here. Residents wander in, and are not shooed out.
  • One dining table. Everyone eats together. It is the single most important room in the house.
  • The front room. Television, card table, the chair by the window that everyone wants.
  • The back porch and garden. Shaded, with seating and raised beds. In a Katy summer, mornings and evenings out here are the best part of the day.
  • Laundry on site. Her clothes are not shipped anywhere and do not come back belonging to someone else.

Photographs coming

The images on this site are placeholders while we photograph the house. Until then, the only honest answer is to come and look at it — call (239) 537-7887 and come by this week.
