What a visit is actually like
No presentation and no folder of glossy floor plans. Someone who works here walks you through the house, you meet whoever is in the front room, and you ask whatever you want. It takes about half an hour unless you want longer.
The most useful visit is around a mealtime — you see the food, the table and how residents and staff are with each other, which tells you more than any answer we could give you.
Worth asking us, and every home you tour
- How many caregivers are on right now, and how many overnight — awake or asleep?
- How long has the longest-serving caregiver been here?
- What would make you ask a resident to leave, and how much notice would we get?
- What is the total monthly cost for my mother specifically, including everything?
- May I see the current state licence and most recent survey?
Bring, if you have them
A current medication list, her physician’s contact details, and any recent hospital discharge paperwork. None of it is required for a first visit — it just lets us give you a straight answer about whether we can meet her needs.
